Alcoholism
There is a great number of people who die every year from these terrible addiction to alcohol. I can recall he case of my uncle who suffered for years trying to stop drinking, Which the most difficult thing to do because of the withdrawal symtomps which are even worse than the disease itself. The symptoms can go from behavioral changes to depression. I saw him go through these two and it was a difficult situation to all the family and the people who were close to him.
The social consequences are the most obvious since alcoholism is the cause of domestic violence, problems with the law, car accidents and it has a higher incidence on unemployment. The physical damages are also prominent with a decrease of activity anxiety, tension and inhibitions. Furthermore there is a slowing in motor performance and a decrease in the ability to think.
The fact that nowadays many teenagers start drinking at earlier ages has brought an even bigger problem to society. Kids usually drink because of the influence of freinds and to be part of a group. These generation feels almost obliged to maintain an image in front of their friends since when they go out the the majority drink alcohol and those who do not do it are cast out. A discussion on what should be done about that has reached the government that started closing places that sell alcoholic dhinks to underage. However these maesures are not enough to stop the increasing alcoholism in society that start at early age and no one knows how it will end.
Is not necessary to have a close relative to realise about the consequences that alcohol produces you can see each day on the news a case of car accident caused by a drunk driver or a fight began in a party by an drunk kid. So as part of society what should we do about it?
